New Yamaha Tracer 700

May 10, 2016

yamaha_mt-07-tracer_001Positioned as Sport Tourer the new Tracer 700 completes Yamaha’s successful MT-07 family of middleweight twin cylinder motorcycles.

The Tracer 700 is equipped with the 4-valve twin cylinder 689cc engine of the MT-07. This torque-rich »crossplane« engine features a 270-degree crank that delivers an uneven firing interval, and this characteristic contributes towards a strong feeling of acceleration – as well as offering high levels of traction.

Developing 55.0 kW (74.8 PS) @ 9,000 rpm, together with 68.0 Nm (6.9 kg-m) @ 6,500 rpm, the new Tracer 700 offers enough power for cornering on winding country roads.

The compact and lightweight chassis featuring a tubular steel frame is responsible for the MT’s agile handling character. For a more stable riding character at higher cruising speeds – especially when riding 2-up with luggage – the Tracer 700 is equipped with a 50 mm longer swingarm to give a wheelbase of 1450 mm.

To suit its long distance role, the 130mm travel front and rear suspension systems feature revised settings for smooth and responsive characteristics in a variety of conditions. The braking system is equipped with dual 282 mm front discs with 4-pot calipers and a 245 mm rear disc. ABS is equipped as standard.

The chassis refinements allow the Tracer to be equipped with pannier systems. 20-litre soft side cases, as well as a 39-litre top case are available as genuine parts. In combination with moderate fuel consumption the 17-litre-tank is good for a long range. An optional higher windscreen makes the ride more comfortable.

The new Yamaha MT-07 Tracer will be available in early July 2016.
