Motorcycling in the Himalayas
June 1, 2011
Indian motorcycle adventurer Gaurav Jani is working on a new film called »Motorcycle Chang pa«. The film tells the story of Gaurav’s journeys to the Chang pa – a nomadic people living in the Changthang, a high altitude desert in the Himalayas.
Gaurav met the Chang pas first several years ago when he was working on his film »Riding solo«. He felt the work was inclomplete without showing more about Shangthang in the winters – when the Chang pas adapt to endure the minus 40 degree celsius temperatures and high speed winds.
The new film »Motorcycle Chang pa« is about travelling together with the Chang pas for over a whole year – by foot and by motorcycle. In this time the Chang pas accepted Gaurav as a member of their community and called him the – »Motorcycle Chang pa«.
The film will be published in 2012. But there is a trailer and lots of information on the trip already available on Gaurav’s internet site and on Facebook.
