With a new concept, the INTERMOT motorcycle trade fair aims to achieve greater coverage and tap new target groups.
More reach, more target groups, more networking – these are the keywords for the new concept of INTERMOT, which will take place in Cologne from 6 to 11 October 2020.
The trade fair organisers want to achieve greater reach through new forms of presentation, among other things. Therefor they have designed a central show platform, the so called “Stage X”. At the head end of an arena there is a large LED wall for displaying live images and films. The stage continues into a catwalk with integrated turntable. The spectators have the possibility to experience presentations at close range as well as on screen.
Among the major motorcycle manufacturers, BMW, Honda and Triumph have already confirmed their participation in the central “PK-Show”, a presentation that is intended to replace the decentralised presentation of model innovations on the exhibitors’ stands. The companies’ brand managers will also have their say during the moderation. The entire “PK-Show” will be broadcast worldwide via live stream and is intended to appeal to industry participants and motorcycle fans alike.
In addition, there will be daily show acts on Stage X – from individual presentations of the companies, ideas for new mobility concepts to influencer shows, fashion shows or business talks.
The “INTERMOT Cup” was developed in cooperation with the computer games trade fair gamescom in order to address new and above all younger target groups with the contents of INTERMOT. In this competition, which is run jointly with the manufacturers BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM and Triumph, participants compete against each other on branded motorcycle simulators.
The INTERMOT Cup is flanked by two influencers who act as Team Captains of the Cup. The Team Captains each stand for one team (Team “Gaming” or Team “Biking”) and use their reach in social media to attract participants for the Cup and interested visitors for the trade fair. The qualifyings for the Cup start in mid-May. During motorbike events and at the INTERMOT stand at gamescom (25-29.08.2020, also in Cologne), “qualifying sessions” will be held to determine the members of the “Gaming” and “Biking” teams. On Friday and Saturday of INTERMOT, the final “battles” will then be run on eight simulators on the Stage X stage – accompanied by scene-oriented presenters.
And last but not least, INTERMOT would like to serve as a platform for networking among market participants to an even greater extent than before. In a joint event, vehicle manufacturers, as well as suppliers, manufacturers of equipment and wholesalers, will therefore invite their most important trading partners to the Arena Stage X and spend an evening together with live music and snacks. Accordingly, the fair will be open for two full days, on 6 and 7 October, exclusively for the media and trade visitors.
